This month I thought I'd take the opportunity to tell you a bit more about one of my favourite classes. Every Saturday I share a practice via Zoom that is something a bit special.

Are you seeking a way to relieve stress, improve sleep, or just move your body more mindfully? This Gentle Zoom Yoga Class, designed specifically for women aged 40-70, offers a nurturing, accessible space where you can experience the benefits of yoga from the comfort of your own home.

What Makes This Class Special?

This 60-minute session blends the ancient wisdom of yoga with modern-day needs for stress relief, relaxation, and physical health. Whether you’re brand new to yoga or have some experience, this class is suitable for beginners and intermediates alike.

Here’s what you’ll experience:

  1. Yoga Thought for the Day
We start each session with a brief but meaningful reflection on yoga philosophy. These are easy-to-understand concepts that you can take into your everyday life, offering practical wisdom for personal growth and inner peace. (This is the secret sauce!)
  2. Pranayama (Breathing Techniques)
Breathing is central to any yoga practice, and in this class, you’ll learn simple yet effective pranayama techniques to calm your mind and restore balance. These exercises can be done both on and off the mat—whether you’re easing stress at work or preparing for a restful night’s sleep.
  3. Gentle Yoga Flow
Our movement practice focuses on gentle, accessible poses that are perfect for all levels. You’ll stretch, strengthen, and move with awareness, all while honouring your body’s capabilities. With modifications offered throughout, this class truly welcomes everyone—whether you’re easing into yoga for the first time or building on your practice.
  4. Guided Relaxation
To complete our session, we’ll unwind with a guided relaxation that will leave you feeling deeply rested. This final segment helps calm your nervous system and promotes mental clarity, making it easier to transition into the rest of your day with ease.

A Class Designed for YOU

This class isn’t about difficult poses or pushing your limits. It’s about creating space for you to relax, strengthen, and gently reconnect with your body. My students, many of whom are in their 60s, love how accessible and calming the practice is.

Here’s what one student had to say:

"Emily teaches through movement and mindfulness an awareness of body and being within the world. The asanas encourage both physical and mental strength and flexibility and Emily’s clear instruction makes following the poses easy. I feel rejuvenated after a yoga session with Emily, at peace with myself, and week by week my body is being gently coaxed into optimal strength and wellness."
